Education in the Life of "this" Warrior part 2

FEELING MISUNDERSTOOD

Have you ever experienced those moments in your life where you're trying your hardest to explain a topic that matters a lot to you to a person who means a lot to you, though at times you feel they just do not have the patience to listen? Yes? Welcome to my world. Have you made a statement and before verifying what you meant, someone will assume it's what you meant and say you're wrong? Yeah, me too. In the life of a warrior, if you're anything like me, sometimes you have trouble getting your words out. You also have trouble understanding someone else's question/statement. When this happens to me, I ask for clarification. Doesn't that mean that the rest of the world should do that with us warriors instead of assuming what we mean? I'm sorry, but I was always taught that ASSUME just makes an ASS out of U and ME.

LET'S TALK ABOUT WHAT MAKES PEPIN REALLY SPECIAL

When I look around, I notice various differences. Wow, what an awesome thing. Every child has something unique about them that brings out their shining light. It does not matter if a person is tall, short captain of the football team, or talented in performing arts. Every student has a unique style that makes it their own. Anyone can be the change if they believe in their abilities.  I am beyond grateful to God for how gracious he's not only been to me but to the numerous friends and classmates I had/ have had/continue to have the amazing opportunity to know!

WHAT DO WE GET AT PEPIN?

Inclusion V.S. What kids at Pepin would not have received if they had attended public school:

Creativity

Variety

WHAT  TO DO IF YOUR CHILD ASKS YOU:

WHY? Why am I different? Why was I chosen?

HOW? How did this happen?

WHEN? When will I get better?

WHAT? What happened to me?

What does this all mean?

The FIRST thing that should be done is to

REASSURE them that they are ENOUGH!

Ask yourself, WHO do you aspire to be? Have you ever imagined what our lives would be like if everything was always easy?

I say this because when it comes to struggling in school in the life of a warrior, words of affirmation from the ones who love and care about you especially when push comes to shove, can really help with everyday life. Even if there are moments when you need to be regiven advice about situations that you already have knowledge of, that's okay! We all struggle and have our days where we just need someone to tell us verbatim that "it's going to be okay".

Tell yourself every day: I am Capable

                                         I am Strong

                                         I am BADASS

Each day of my life I strive to wake up and make every moment count. If and whenever I have a moment where I lack self-confidence, I think of the people who've inspired me the most and what they would tell me. For you, I suggest not only doing the same but also asking yourself these questions daily and then reflecting.

Ask yourselves:

*What advice have you been given from the mentors in your life in relation to handling challenging situations?

* What do you struggle with?

*What are your strengths?

*What motivates you to turn your challenges into strengths?

You are strong. You are capable of so much that this world has to offer. Every story is different because of the experiences that each unique soul has encountered. Every story is different in its own special and colorful way. Be like a bird.  Spread your wings and soar.
